- Ironhack raises $3 million for its coding bootcamp. The round was led by JME Venture Capital
- Connected car startup Grupo Next raised €1 million from Fides Capital, PMovil, Atresmedia and business angels. El Referente interviewed its co-founders
- Proptech startup Cliventa raised €375,000 from RTV Capital and BR Grupo de Empresas
- Socialwibox raised €160,000

- Amazon to start building a logistics centre in Valencia
- Twitter in Spain in 2016: 25% less staff and 10% increase in sales
- Rakuten.tv (formerly known as Wuaki) increased sales in 2016 by 36%, while posting a loss of €19 million. The Japanese company also announced that it plans to hire “hundreds” of employees in Barcelona, where it will base its European headquarters
- Banco Sabadell announced Kelvin Atlas, an open data portal that the bank claims to be the first one in the Spanish banking sector
