  • Madrid-based Acoru has raised €10M in a Series A round led by 33N Ventures. Founded in 2023, Acoru builds an AI-driven platform to detect money mule activity and predict financial scams
  • Atresmedia invested €1.8M in Waynabox in 2024 to support its international expansion and fund major TV advertising campaigns. Atresmedia remains the company’s largest shareholder
  • Navarra-based Fuvex has raised €1.7M to expand its long-range autonomous drones for infrastructure inspection across Europe and Latin America, alongside €1.5M in public financing. The round was led by Sodena
  • Valencia-based Aunoa has raised €1.5M to expand its generative AI conversational agents. The startup automates complex customer management tasks via multichannel AI systems integrated with CRM tools, serving clients in 10 countries. The round was led by Eoniq and Faraday. Aunoa reports €2M in recurring revenue and a 35-person team
  • Barcelona-based SHINEPHI, a spin-off from ICFO, has raised €1M in a seed round led by Grow Venture Partners. The startup develops high-precision optical imaging modules that transform standard microscopes into metrology tools

M&A activity 🎊

  • Chinese appliance giant Midea acquired 100% of Pacerin, a Seville-based startup founded in 2019. Pacerin reached over €15M in revenue. The deal turns Pacerin into Midea’s ecommerce hub for Southern Europe, maintaining operations and its 10-person team in Seville

  • New funds:
  • Barcelona-based Iris Ventures closed the first €100M tranche of its €200M IRIS Fund II, which will invest in beauty, wellness, nutrition, and conscious living brands. Founded by Montse Suárez, she highlights that all capital comes from “blue-chip families linked to the consumer sector,” with no public money involved. The new fund targets 12–15 companies, mostly in Europe, with tickets between €5M and €20M from leading European family offices. More details here
  • The Spanish Government, through SETT, invested €9.9M in CRB Digital Health III, a €50M fund managed by CRB Health Tech to boost digital health innovation
  • Angels will invest €10M in 35–40 startups over the next two years—matching the €40M it has deployed across 70 companies in the past decade. Angels will fund the new investments through three planned exits and dividends from profitable firms
  • The Institut Català de Finances (ICF) announced three new venture funds totaling €170M as part of its Catalunya Lidera strategy to strengthen Catalonia’s private equity ecosystem. The new vehicles include:
  • Lidera Transferència en Salut (€60M) for early-stage health projects
  • Lidera Conversió Impacte i Innovació (€70M) co-created with the Barcelona City Council for deep tech and sustainability startups

  • Investor Henrik Persson Ekdahl, co-founder of investment firm Optimizer Invest announced his exit from Playtomic after six years of investment and nearly five years on its board. Backed since 2019, when the platform served 175 clubs and 5,000 monthly users, Playtomic now reaches 2.5M monthly active users and 7,000 clubs in over 60 countries
  • Spanish investors active aborad:
  • International round led by Spanish investors (Orilla) and Spain-based international investors (14W): Austrian startup Refurbed, operator of a refurbished electronics marketplace, raised £44M. The round included participation from Bonsai, already an investor in the company
  • Klima, Alantra’s €210M energy transition fund, has invested $15M in maxwell+spark as part of an extended Series B round. The Dutch company develops modular lithium-ion battery systems to electrify industrial logistics
  • Nina Capital led the seed round of US-based io Health, which develops ioAssist, an AI-powered platform improving documentation accuracy in home and post-acute care

  • New companies:
  • Barcelona-based Pleiful, co-founded by Rodrigo Alier and Carl Byrne, emerged as a conversational AI startup building human-like agents to scale customer experience and drive revenue
  • Product launches:
  • Typeform launched an AI engagement platform that transforms online forms into automated workflows
  • haddock launched Fina, its first AI Agent for restaurants, capable of executing real financial and administrative tasks. The company says it has generated €1M in new ARR in 16 weeks
  • Spanish crypto platform Bit2Me partnered with Société Générale-Forge, the digital assets arm of the French bank, to launch euro- and dollar-pegged stablecoins—EUR CoinVertible (EURCV) and USD CoinVertible (USDCV)—on its platform

Startup financials

  • Indexa Capital Group posted a 358% increase in net profit to €0.9M and a 40% rise in revenue to €4.2M in H1 2025, driven by operational efficiency and international expansion. Indexa Capital AV reached €3.5B in AUM by June and surpassed €4B in October
  • Madrid-based We Are Knitters has entered liquidation. The knitting startup sold its productive unit to Caracas Lab for €1M, which included cash payment and the assumption of debts and 11 employee contracts. We Are Knitters once operated in 15 countries and reached €14.9M in revenue and €1.6M in profit during the pandemic

  • Several news items about Factorial:
  • Barcelona-based HR platform Factorial has opened a new 658 m² office in central Madrid, its third European hub after Barcelona and Cologne. Factorial surpassed $100M in ARR in September, employs 1,400 people, and serves 14,000 clients across 10 countries
  • Factorial outlined how its $200M non-dilutive financing with General Catalyst works. The deal is structured as revenue-based growth debt: each quarter, the US fund advances up to 80% of Factorial’s customer acquisition costs, which are repaid as new subscription revenues come in—without equity dilution. In 2024, €40M remained available, €17M were pending repayment, and €1.5M were paid in interest

  • Hugging Face partnered with Google-owned and Malaga-based VirusTotal to enhance AI security by scanning all 2.2M+ public model and dataset repositories on the Hugging Face Hub for malware
  • Ecotechers published details of Telefónica startup investments, including a €962k (€1M) stake in Perplexity AI, part of the US company’s $500M round at a $9B valuation in late 2024. Through Telefónica Ventures, the telco also invested €500k in Nearby Computing, €700k in Israel’s Munch Content Platform, and €1M in clean energy firm Hybrico Energies
  • Indra is negotiating exclusively with Teknei to sell its business process outsourcing (BPO) unit for around €100 million, according to Expansión
  • Ikea España appointed Clara Hernández as its new director of ecommerce
  • Spain’s CNMV is closely monitoring the growing marketing of private equity funds to retail investors, warning of risks tied to illiquidity and complexity. The 2022 Crea y Crece law lowered the entry threshold from €100,000 to €10,000, spurring launches by Bankinter, Myinvestor, GVC Gaesco, and Crescenta. CNMV president Carlos San Basilio cautioned against promoting “evergreen” funds as liquid products, stressing the need for investor awareness and transparency
