Startup funding news 💸

  • According to El Referente, Spanish startups raised €137 million in July
  • Biome Makers closed $4 million to assess the quality of the ‘gut bacteria’ of a farm’s soil. The round was co-led by Seaya Ventures and JME VC, and also included the participation of LocalGlobe
  • Malaga-based Predictiva, developer of AI solutions for contact centres, fintech and ecommerce industries, raised €2.5 million in a round led by Swanlaab Venture Factory
  • Madrid-based SP Control Technologies raised €1.3 million for its Frenetic product. The round was led by 42cap and included the participation of Big Sur Ventures, Bankinter and Busy Angels
  • Barcelona-based Emjoy raised €1 million in seed funding from Nauta Capital for its sexual wellness app
  • Ion-lithium battery startup Endurance Motive raised €700,000
  • Inloc Robotics raised €550,000 from GoHub Ventures
  • Furniture ecommerce startup Hannun raised €187,500 on Startupxplore

  • La Informacion wrote about Freepik, the Malaga-based bootstrapped startup that has annual sales of €30 million with its vector and images marketplace
  • Another interesting profile in La Informacion, of Madrid’s adtech startup Seedtag. The company wants to launch its services in the US, plans to reach €30 million in sales this year and is looking for a €15 million round
  • El Confidencial wrote a long profile about Barcelona-based fintech company Verse. After raising more than $10 million in funding, the startup replaced its executives and it appears to now be on the right track, with Bernardo Hernandez (idealista, Google, Flickr) serving as CEO
  • There’s been a lot of M&A activity in the food tech sector in recent months. La Informacion looked at this movements in the context of Glovo, and how could Delivery Hero’s stake in the company could affect its future
  • Barcelona-based startup Joppy launched a report that looks at the tech sector from a jobs and HR perspective, including interesting salary benchmarks
  • Belvo is a new fintech startup out of Barcelona that’s developed a bunch of APIs aimed at Latam startups. The company is co-founded by Pablo Viguera (Groopify, Verse)
  • SevillaWorld wrote a profile of Mox, the last mile delivery startup out of Sevilla. The company has more than 1,400 riders under contract and annual sales of €2.8 million
  • Proptech startup Housfy to launch in Portugal under the name Housefy
  • El Pais profiled about Graphext, the data-science-as-a-business startup based in Madrid. In the interview, CEO Victoriano Izquierdo talks about big data, machine learning and other topics
