  • PropTech startup Housfy raised €6 million to fuel growth across Southern Europe. This latest financing round is led by Seaya Ventures, Torch Capital, DN Capital and Cathay Innovation
  • Nanotech company Nanosens raised €600,000 via Crowdcube

  • El Pais interviewed Carlota Pi, co-founder of Holaluz. In the interview Pi says that the company has more than 200,000 clients and positive EBITDA
  • Scytl has been in the news recently as a result of alleged issues in the Spanish elections. However, the government has said that these issues have been no different than in previous elections where the government used other systems and providers
  • Glovo faces safety protests after delivery rider killed on the job. Also last week it was known that Egypt is requesting Glovo to resume its operations in the country, accusing the company of unfair competition
  • Talent agency Manfred made public its revenue numbers for March and April, in an interesting transparency effort
  • Online psychology platform Psonrie won SeedRocket’s 21st Barcelona Campus
  • La Voz de Galicia profiled Docuten, a profitable and bootstrapped Coruña-based SaaS startups that sells invoicing and document management software to companies
  • Fashion social network and clothing shop 21buttons to expand to six more countries in the next few months: Belgium, Austria, Turkey, Mexico, Russia and Brazil
  • Basque startup Wattio Conecta launched a new service to look after the elderly at home
  • Populate launched Populate Data, a service to access hundreds of public datasets from a single source

  • BBVA’s venture capital business Propel Venture Partners led a $8 million funding round in US-based fintech company ChargeAfter
  • Facebook hired Spanish lawyer Cecilia Alvarez to lead its privacy efforts in EMEA
  • It’s not clear what’s going to happen with Madrid Central in the Spanish capital. This could affect carsharing platforms such as Car2go, Emov and others, and El Español talked to them about it
  • Telefonica signed an agreement with Schindler Ahead to offer its IoT platform to the manufacturer of elevators and escalators

  • A Taxi association recently requested the ban of Cabify and Uber in Spain. A Spanish judge rejected the petition. Also last week, Uber announced that it’s leaving the city of Valencia
  • For the fourth time, a Spanish judge has ruled that riders of companies such as Glovo or Deliveroo should not be employees of those companies. At the same time, a trial has started in Spain as a consequence of a Labour Inspection a few months ago that considered 531 riders of Deliveroo to be employees
