  • German company Stemmer Imaging acquired Spanish firm Infaimon Group, a provider of software and hardware for machine vision and robotics
  • French payments startup Tiller Systems acquired Spanish restaurant management software startup Beesniss
  • Erica Brescia, co-founder and COO of Spanish and US startup Bitnami, recently acquired by VMWare, wrote about her experience in ‘A New Chapter’. Daniel Lopez, CEO, was also recently interviewed at Startup Grind Barcelona. The interview was recorded weeks before the exit was announced

  • Fond-ICO awarded Adara Ventures, JME and Samaipata with €41.5 million to power their new funds
  • Bilbao-based All Iron Ventures announced that it has raised an additional €80 million to invest in startups, bringing the total raised by the firm to €120 million. The firm also disclosed a new and interesting management fee structure. Last week it was also known that All Iron participated in Kodit.i’s €12 million round. Kodit is a Finnish proptech startup
  • French VC Idinvest Partners announced last week that it’s closed a new €340 million fund. The firm says that it continues to keep an eye on the Spanish market. Idinvest is the most active international VC in Spain to date, with multiple investments
  • Madrid-based VC Axon Partners has closed its ICT I fund with a 3.5X return
  • Alta Life Sciences aims to raise a new €175 million fund to invest in biotech startups
  • Cemex Ventures invested in Swiss energy startup Energy Vault
  • Startup accelerator Conector is looking for new startups for its Madrid, Barcelona and Galicia programs

  • In an interview with El Español, Glovo’s co-founder Sacha Michaud said that he expects the company to triple its sales this year, from €80 million in 2018 to €240 million in 2019. Glovo also announced last week that Diego Nouet will become its managing director in Spain and Portugal; Nouet previously worked at Amazon
  • The founders of Spanish startup Nice People At Work have acquired the stake owned by VC firm Axon Partners in the company for €10 million. Axon owned 20% of NPAW
  • Expansion published an interesting overview of the Spanish biotech sector, which has increased significantly in the past few years
  • Travel publication Skift published a long interview with Avi Meir, co-founder and CEO of Barcelona-based Travelperk: ’How Travelperk builds better tools for European business travelers
  • Xataka published a long profile of Valladolid-based startup Codice Software, developers of the popular version control product Plastic SCM
  • Ecommerce company We Are Knitters gave a presentation last week at a Telefonica sponsored event. The company disclosed in the presentation its revenues. €10 million in 2019 and it expects to reach €13 million in 2020
  • Cabify has integrated escooter company Movo (which it partially owns) onto its main app, allowing users to both get cars and scooters from one single app
  • Fintech company Pagantis signed an agreement with PayPal to offer its ‘Paga+Tarde’ service in more sites
  • Forbes interviewed Pablo Martin, co-founder and CEO of Chronoexpert, a marketplace to buy and sell luxury watches

  • Banc Sabadell to launch Blink, a new brand to sell home and auto insurance online
  • Investment firm eToro to make a bigger push in the Spanish market, offering local users the ability to invest in all kinds of financial products, from crypto to cannabis stocks
  • Banco Santander is looking to sign partnerships with startups that will allow the latter to promote their products to clients of the bank
