  • Molo, a Valencia-based subscription service for motorbikes, announced that it has raised to date more than €3.5 million
  • Barcelona-based telemedicine platform mediQuo raised €1.5 million in a round led by German VC Target Global. Here’s an interview with the company CEO Guillem Serra with more details about mediQuo
  • Subscription management startup RevenueCat raised $1.5 million from SaaStr. RevenueCat is based in Silicon Valley, went through Y Combinator and is co-founded by Spaniard engineer Miguel Carranza
  • Jewelry brand Singularu raised €1 million from Faraday Venture Partners, Bamboo Venture Capital, Torsa Capital and existing investors
  • Travel startup Smartvel announced a €900,000 investment from Caixa Capital Risc, Alsa, Fides Capital, Faraday Venture Partners and Pinama Inverstartups
  • Barcelona-based Fleksy Keyboard raised $815,000 in equity-crowdfunding
  • Ship2B has invested more than €1.5 million in three startups: Boolino, Alan Medical and Neki

  • VC and accelerator program TheVentureCity announced changes in its conditions (an investment of €100,000 for a 6% stake) and the hiring of Andrés Dancausa (founder of SofiaSquare)
  • Expansion looked at the past financial performance of venture firm Inveready. Solid numbers

  • El Confidencial published a long piece on Hawker’s troubles: according to the the publication, the company’s business is not growing as expected, it owes money to providers and there’s growing disatisfaction with the company’s current CEO
  • Profile of Sevilla-based travel marketplace Glamping Hub, which has 93 employees and expects to reach €8 million in revenues this year
  • 21buttons hired Cristina Llibre (formerly of Groupalia) to lead its business development strategy. The company raised more than €14 million in funding a few months ago
  • German fintech startup and neobank N26 opened a subsidiary in Spain. This will in theory allow it to provide credit and investment products to local clients
  • Short term rental data platform Transparent published an analysis of the European vacation rental market, with interesting insights about the level of competition
  • Product consulting/developer firm Vernon announced Circular, a private community in which startups refer candidates they interviewed
  • Spanish motorbike sharing platform Muving wants to launch in the Bay Area before the end of the year
  • Cinco Dias looked at the various scooter sharing platforms that currently operate in Spain
  • Travel startup Trappit continues its legal battle against American Express. The Spanish company sued the American one for copyright infringement
  • Changes in Stubhub Spain (formerly Ticketbis): Andres San Jose Gutierrez will lead the company’s operations in Spain. He was previously in charge of the Latam business. This takes place a few months after the departure of Ticketbis co-founders Ande Michelena and Jon Uriarte
  • Deepki, a French startup that’s built a product to optimise real estate performance, launched its services in Spain
  • Kippel01 profiled Maria Gutierrez’s (co-founder of Citibox) new startup, an HR platform called Hiwook

  • Amazon’s Echo speakers are now officially available in Spain
  • Airbnb disclosed revenues of €4.5 million in 2017 in Spain. These are official figures, but they seem too low to me. The company continues to face multiple regulation attempts in Spain, which its local country manager talked about in this interview
  • Kippel01 looked at the financials of Schibsted Spain: its job, motor and real estate sections account for more than 80% of the subisidiary’s business. The group had revenues of €119 million in the first nine months of 2018, and an EBITDA of €35 million

  • Spanish regulator CNMV says that Airbnb and similar platforms do have an impact on the local rental market
  • The Spanish Supreme Court rejected Microsoft’s appeal associated to Hacienda’s claim of a €12 million debt with the Spanish tax office
