  • German neobank N26 will open its second European office in Barcelona and plans to hire over 100 people
  • A couple of weeks ago it was discovered that LaLiga’s official app used smartphone’s mic to detect where users are watching games, in order to fight against piracy at bars and cafes. This week it was announced that the company that provides such tech to LaLiga is Madrid-based startup Fluzo
  • Cabify puts on hold its plans to request more than 60,000 VTC licenses as the Spanish government puts in place a cap in the number of licenses that will come to market
  • Idealista has no plans to launch a transactional product, even as companies such as Spotahome continue to elevate their game
  • Energy startup Holaluz expects to reach 20,000 clients by the end of 2018 in Portugal, while also planning to expand to Portugal, Italy and France
  • Content platform iVoox launched a subscription service for podcast producers and users
  • Typeform launches integration with HubSpot
  • UK fintech startup Revolut loses its Spanish managing director, Pablo Viguera

  • A study released by the Spanish Startup Association says that EU copyright regulation will put in jeopardy the business of “hundreds” of Spanish startups
