  • Eventbrite acquired Spanish ticketing platform Ticketea. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Ticketea’s CEO Javier Andres wrote an article post-exit about with 10 tips to sell your company
  • New York’s hospitality tech leader Resy acquired Spain’s ClubKviar

  • Mercadona hired Juan Pablo Constanzo to lead its product design team. Constanzo previously worked at Alibaba and PayPal
  • El Corte Ingles believes that the fact that they can deliver orders in less than 30 minutes is a strong competitor advantage
  • HomeAway increased its revenues in Spain by 12.5% last year, to €18.7 million

Tech and policy 💂🏼

  • The Spanish government approved a law at the end of last week to limit the number of VTC licenses in the market, which is seen by most as a way to help the traditional taxi industry. This took place as Cabify and Uber were expecting up to 30,000 VTC licenses to hit the market
  • El Confidencial talked to the Spanish police about how they’re dealing bitcoin and cryptocurrencies: “We are not ready”
